A comet.

A light you keep watching longer because you can’t hold onto it.
By the time it comes close, it is already preparing to leave, and only as it departs does it become the clearest.

A comet is remembered by its tail before its head.
The path it has passed becomes light, and its disappearance completes the story.
Maybe that’s why it lingers longer in the heart after parting than when it was first met.

Even without promising to stay forever, it can completely change a single passing night.
Things that have truly shone, even for a moment, are not erased by time.

If you feel like you are only passing through right now, like you can’t stay anywhere for long,
that might not be emptiness, but the act of drawing your own orbit.

A comet does not settle, but it leaves a trace.

And for some nights, that single trace is enough to endure.
